WRITTEN BY CHRIS BUTLER...
Saturday night Spencer, Craig, and I were heading into Newnan, Ga for the 2nd Georgia Tech. RR on Sunday, since we raced in Greenville on Saturday. After carbo loading at the Golden Corral, and trying to get a decent amount of sleep on the eve of daylight savings, Todd, Sean, Spencer, Craig, and I woke up to sub freezing temperatures. Sunday's RR for men's A was 6 laps totaling 66 miles of racing. Lees McCrae was skippping this race weekend so the only big teams there were Clemson and Florida.
Spencer was heavily marked by both teams which allowed me to sneak off in a break with 1 Clemson rider and 1 Florida rider on the first lap. The peloton let us float away, and our three man break rode the bulk of the race in cooperation, with each man doing his fair share of work. I would soon ruin this unison, as I knew I wanted to break things up on the small rollers and try to avoid a sprint and shoot for a sure win by a solo attack.
It turned out to be a great day of nice weather compared to Saturday, and a day full of good results for Furman Cycling as we had strong finishes in both the men's A and B races.
